Every summer Brighton plays host to the Pride festival for a weekend. We were asked to assist with lighting up the Brighton Wheel on the seafront in the Pride colours to act as a focal point which would stand out for miles.

Using Philips Arenavision floodlights and special high temperature gels and holders, the wheel was lit for the week with great effect.

LED Video Panels

Rockwells underwent a refit in late 2011 and to bring it into the 21st century and give it a wow-factor, we fitted a series of LED video panels at the end of the dancefloor behind the Dj box.

Comprising of 8 panels, each containing 256 individual LEDs, the LED wall runs on a video server allowing the venue to show video & graphics, along with text and advertising. With a simple user interface, images & vide clips can easily be added to the system by the venue or Djs, making it simple to customise to each night or event.

The Post House in Stafford was recently renovated into a stunning venue designed for hosting weddings, parties and other events. In the main bar area we fitted a 10m wide LED video screen at the back of the bar. The LED panels have a pixel pitch of 40mm, giving it a high enough resolution to show graphics and video clips.

Four LED moving heads were also fitted in the bar area, and four more were fitted in the wedding room allowing the area to be used for receptions & parties.

We were contacted by ICL during June 2011 to aide with the programming of their recently installed LED system. The system comprised of a series of Traxon LED fixtures mounted on the front and back of a Dj box, all of which were controlled via an Ecue lighting control server.

With a great experience in previously using Ecue, our programmer was able to supply a selection of video content which was mapped onto the LED matrix, including text, graphics and video content.

Lighting & Sound

After the succesful running of JJ Whispers in Reigate for three years, the owners decided to branch out and redevelop a site in Crawley, formerly the 107 Club.

With a similar breif, the style of the venue was aimed at the luxurious and classy side of clubbing, with extravagant chandeliers, gold figures and sways of lavish material. The central dancefloor was fitted with a new 'sound ceiling' consisting of a suspended trussing rig, in which was mounted the sound system to minimise the noise travelling out of the building.

Al lighting rig was formed around this ceiling, with new 1200w Robe scanners and lasers fitted at either end. We then transformed one of the VIP booths into a new karaoke room, with a touch screen user interface for the customers to control the songs.

The ceiling spans the dancefloor, encasing the customers and surrounding them with moving light.

The LED ceiling consists of 600 individually controlled LEDs in a 24 wide by 25 long formation. Controlled using a desktop computer and Ecue DMX software suite, the LED ceiling is capable of showing graphics, text and basic video content.

THe system was also linked in to the venues existing Martin Wizard fixtures, enabling the whole lighting system to be controlled from the one piece of software.

Full design & build, electrical, plumbing, decorating, sound, lighting, visual, signage & bar equipment

Located on Brighton's seafront, overlooking the Palace Pier, the A Bar is part of the award winning Amsterdam Hotel. Last renovated in 2005, the bar and restaurant area was in need of a new look to bring it up to date and in line with current trends. Head of the Showtec design and build team, Paul Craig, was enlisted to come up with a suitable plan for the venue with various design features and ideas.

Using moulded sheets of textured decorative laminate in gold and bronze shades, combined with a series of colour changing LEDs, we were able to turn the unsightly central pillars into a design feature. Various sections of wall in the seating area were also covered in the textured laminate, creating a warm and unique feel to areas of the room. Combined with custom made tables, chairs and bench seating, an overall feeling of comfort and luxury emanates from the bar.

A series of plasma and LCD screens were fitted around the venue, each with a custom built surround. The bar back was then fitted with gold frames designed to create a eye catching bottle display area. Each frame was fitted with LEDs to illuminate the products on display. A central ceiling feature was created using colour changing LEDs and gold fabric, which were linked to the other LEDs around the venue, allowing the whole room to change colour and feel at once.
